Louis Armstrong über a State of Grace

Anfang 2009 erhielt die seit 5 Jahren bestehende Band einen neuen Namen: a State of Grace. Ein Name, der vom Bewusstsein kündet, einerseits zwar einzigartig zu sein, andererseits nicht ausgrenzen zu wollen: ein Zustand der Anmut und Grazie unter vielen, nicht der einzige.
Genauso hält es die Band mit den musikalischen Einflüssen: Punk Rock trifft auf Pop, Blues (warum nicht?) und Hardcore. All das schlägt sich in den Songs nieder. In der klassischen Bandbesetzung mit zwei Gitarren, Bass und Schlagzeug, gepaart mit an die Circle Jerks erinnerndem Gesang, werden technische Spielereien durch Spielfreude ersetzt, beim Songwriting ist nichts verboten, erlaubt ist alles, was der Band und dem Publikum gefällt. Guter Punk Rock eben. Denn Louis Armstrong kann sich nicht irren.

Im Winter 2008/2009 wurde das erste selbstproduzierte Demo aufgenommen; in Moment schraubt die Band im viel zu kalten Proberaum am ersten Album, das mit dem Namen “And the Savant starts to Think” irgendwann im Sommmer erscheinen wird.

In 2009, after almost five years, the four-piece received a new name – a State of Grace. A name that proclaims uniqueness on the one side, but on the other side does not want to exclude: just one state of grace among many others, not the only one. That is also what the band makes of their musical influences: punk rock meets pop, hardcore, and even blues (why not?). All that can be discovered in their songs, delivered by the classic line-up of two guitars, bass and drums. There are no musical shenanigans on stage, only a band enjoying to play their songs. There are no rules when it comes to song writing, everything’s allowed that pleases the band and the audience. Just good punk rock. ’Cause Louis Armstrong can’t be wrong.

In the winter of 2008/2009, the band recorded their first self-produced demo; right now, the band is spending way too much time in their way too cold rehearsal room to produce their first record, entitled “And the Savant starts to Think” and due out sometime this summer. Stay tuned!
